Join staff and the National Weather Service for a basic SKYWARN class in Madison, Indiana on Tuesday February 25th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. NWS - train weather spotters provide real-time reports of tornadoes, hail, winds and flooding damage. SKYWARN spotters include ham radio operators, emergency responders and communication dispatchers, citizen groups and you! In order to receive a Storm Spotter ID, participants must be at least 18 years of age. Younger children and teenagers are welcome to attend for an educational experience.
The classes are free and all you need to do to register is show up. The presentation generally last two hours and are free. To receive a storm spotter ID participants must be at least 18 years of age. County Coronavirus Update3/20/2020 For Immediate Release 20 March 2020
Update on the Coronavirus situation in Switzerland County Please be advised that while there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Switzerland County, the Switzerland County Health Department is currently monitoring 6 individuals with non-severe illness due to recent travel history and/or a symptom complex. Due to lack of testing capabilities which are beyond our control, we can only report that 2 individuals have been tested and the results are negative thus far. Information changes frequently, so please stay informed. All individuals have been very cooperative and are self-isolating at home with daily follow up from the County Health Nurse. The Switzerland County Health Department along with the Switzerland County Emergency Management Agency continues to monitor the current situation and coordinate with our local, state, and federal partners to ensure the safety of everyone in our community.
